What are the disadvantages of vacuum induction furnace smelting?
The shortcomings of vacuum induction furnace smelting are as follows.
1. There is contamination of molten steel by crucible refractories
Under the double action of high temperature and high vacuum degree of vacuum smelting, the crucible refractory will decompose and produce oxygen to the liquid steel, which increases the oxygen content of the liquid steel and reduces the purity of the liquid steel.
2. The crystal structure of ingot is not improved
Compared with the ingots cast by induction melting furnace and electric arc furnace, there are some disadvantages, such as composition segregation, uneven grain size, deep shrinkage cavity and poor surface quality of ingots.
3. High equipment investment cost and high production cost
The equipment cost of vacuum induction furnace is about 25-30 times that of induction furnace, and the production cost is about 5-10 times.
