How to reduce impurities in steel in induction melting furnace

1) Reasonable selection of raw materials

When selecting raw materials to reduce inclusions, the following problems should be considered

A. control inclusions brought by ferroalloy. The content of chromium oxide is the most in the micro carbon ferrochromium produced by vacuum method. In fact, ferrochrome, ferrotitanium and ferroboron produced by aluminothermic method contain more oxide inclusions.

B control the proportion of return material. The returned material is an important source of foreign inclusions. The residual Al, Ti, Zr, re etc. enter into the liquid steel in the form of inclusions, which is difficult to remove. Therefore, the higher the content of inclusions in the steel, the worse the quality of the product.

C. high purity sedative industrial pure iron is selected. A large amount of inclusions will also be brought into the industrial pure iron for batching. The content of inclusions in boiling or semi killed pure iron is high, followed by killed iron removal, and vacuum refining pure iron is the purest.

2) Make good covering slag to reduce the air pollution of liquid steel.

3) Strengthening the final deoxidation of liquid steel, selecting multiple deoxidizers, combining ladle sedation and bottom argon blowing, can reduce the residual amount of deoxidation products.

4) Clean hearth, taphole, ladle and gating system (including ingot mold) and absorb floating sand to reduce foreign inclusions.
