The following problems should be paid attention to in the initial stage of using new sintering crucible.
(1) Insist on using industrial pure iron to wash induction furnace crucible
It is important to wash the furnace with industrial pure iron or low carbon steel (0.15% C). First of all, the high melting point and low fluidity of the charge can reduce the penetration of liquid steel into the cracks and make the cracks sinter. Secondly, high liquid steel temperature can expand the thickness of sintering layer, which is particularly important for low temperature sintering crucible. Finally, the potential defects of the new crucible will appear in the early stage of smelting. Once breakout occurs, it will be easy to dispose of because of the high melting point and poor fluidity of industrial pure iron.
(2) The new crucible of induction melting furnace can't smelt the steel with good fluidity
High carbon, high manganese, high silicon and high alloy steel should not be smelted in the first 5 heats of new crucible. To prevent breakout accident caused by liquid steel penetrating into crack. Low carbon chromium steel can be smelted at the initial stage.
(3) New crucible charging should ensure smooth melting
For new crucible materials, more attention should be paid to the charging, and the "bridging" phenomenon in the melting period should be avoided;. It is necessary to operate carefully to prevent big impact on the crucible wall. The charging capacity reaches the maximum and the smelting time is prolonged.
(4) Careful observation of new crucible in smelting process
In addition to careful operation of the new crucible, the precursor of breakout must be carefully observed. Observe whether the crucible wall has abnormal color, whether the power supply voltage fluctuates downward, whether the current fluctuates upward, etc. In case of any abnormal situation, the power shall be cut off immediately to avoid breakout. At the same time, we should also observe whether the insulation between the turns of the inductor is good.
(5) Check the condition of new crucible after tapping
After tapping in induction furnace, it is necessary to check whether there are bright spots or cracks on the inner surface of crucible, especially the annular transverse cracks, and the longitudinal cracks are usually less harmful. Clean and repair defects and slag line in time.
