The characteristics of induction furnace are as follows:

1) The melting process is stable and the casting has high mechanical strength. In the induction furnace, various components of cast iron can be melted. Because the oxidation loss is small in the melting process, and the composition and temperature of the molten iron can be easily adjusted, the quality of the molten iron obtained is relatively stable. Generally, using induction furnace instead of cupola to melt cast iron can often reduce the scrap rate of castings by 1 / 3-1 / 2.

2) Using induction melting furnace to melt nonferrous metals can reduce melting loss or realize non oxidation melting. When the induction furnace is used to melt aluminum or aluminum alloy, due to the strong oxidizing flame erosion in the flameless furnace, the melting speed is fast. In addition, the medium frequency induction furnace is used recently to improve the melting speed and reduce the electromagnetic stirring, so the oxidation burning loss during melting is lower than that of the flame furnace.

3) Cheap raw materials are available. In the smelting process of induction furnace, due to the presence of electromagnetic stirring in molten iron, it is especially conducive to smelting all kinds of processing chips and fine scrap. After these small wastes are added to the surface of molten iron, they are quickly melted into molten iron, and the oxidation burning loss is small. However, these small wastes are difficult to be directly used in other forms of cast iron smelting furnace. Because the induction furnace can use a lot of cheap waste, it can greatly reduce the cost of charge.

4) Reduce environmental pollution. As there is no combustion product of energy carrier in the medium frequency furnace, the emission of smoke and dust is less, and the noise is far lower than that of the cupola. The labor intensity and working conditions of workers have been improved. As long as conditions permit, it is often very advantageous to use induction furnace melting and heat preservation pouring in cast iron production.
