Alkaline crucible smelting is the most widely used smelting method. It can be used for smelting low-alloy steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, tool and die steel, electrothermal alloy, corrosion-resistant alloy, superalloy, etc.
The application of acid crucible smelting method is limited to smelting high manganese steel, chromium manganese nitrogen heat resistant steel, high speed tool steel, high carbon abrasive steel, heat resistant steel, etc. The smelting steel must have high silicon content and free of Al, Ti, B, Zr and other oxidizable elements.
