(1) Effect of medium frequency electric furnace on smelting temperature
If the molten steel temperature is too high, the erosion of molten slag on the furnace lining will be intensified; the fluidity of molten steel will increase, and the penetration of molten steel into cracks will be accelerated; the chemical erosion of molten steel on the furnace lining will be intensified. These reasons will reduce the service life of the crucible.
(2) Influence of steel grade on the quality of steel
For the steel with low melting point and good fluidity, the penetration of molten steel into the crucible is intensified; for the steel with high melting point, higher temperature is required, which will damage the service life of the crucible. It is more suitable to arrange these steel grades in the middle and later stage of the crucible.
(3) Influence of slag system
The basicity of slag should be adapted to the material of crucible. Magnesia crucible has better corrosion resistance to alkali slag than spinel crucible, and silica crucible is suitable for acid slag. Therefore, the slag system with corresponding alkalinity should be selected according to the material of the crucible in order to prolong the service life of the crucible.
(4) Influence of medium frequency smelting furnace operation
Whether the charge can be melted smoothly or not in the melting period has the greatest influence. The service life of the crucible will be greatly reduced by bridge erection and treatment.
